"Love...A Fable in 9 Acts" by Tracey Whitney (Jazz Artist from Los Angeles, California(CA))

"Love...A Fable in 9 Acts" by Tracey Whitney is a smooth jazz album that takes you on a journey through the trials and tribulations of love. Tracey is a veteran of the music industry and her voice is deep, sultry and warm. Accompanying her are sounds and arrangements that take you back to the classic days of R&B. These soundscapes are jazzy and soulful with a heavy Gospel influence. Highlights include the sexy-to-the-max "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby". Couldn't help but think of the great Barry White when listening to this one. "How Can You Stop Loving Someone" has some nice breaks and an intimate vocal performance. You'll get another great vocal performance on "A Woman In Love". If you like Sade and Roberta Flack, you'll like this one.

"Butch Thomas" by Butch Thomas (Jazz Artist from United Kingdom)

Butch Thomas' self-titled album is an outstanding collection of Nu-Jazz songs brought to you by an industry veteran. Butch's Tenor and Soprano Sax on the album is as smooth as silk. His arrangements are solid and his style is innovative and very modern. Overall, the musicianship on the CD is tremendous and the sound quality is excellent as well. Highlights are the opener "Blues for Miles" taking you back to the 70's a bit with cop show synths and a memorable Sax performance. "Ooga Booga" has some fun percussion elements, but keeps it nice and smooth. "You Dig" is a progressive jazz number with impressive drum work and another solid Sax performance. If you enjoy smooth jazz saxophone and big name artists such as Kenny G or Wayne Shorter, you'll enjoy this CD.

"Across Time" by Kathy Moore (Jazz Artist from Michigan(MI))

"Across Time" brought to you by Kathy Moore will please your ears with an organic sound and beautiful vocals....with style. Kathy has one of those timeless voices. Very reminiscent of Karen Carpenter and of Joni Mitchell. Playful, but serene at the same time. The arrangements behind her vary nicely on this CD - Keeping to a folky, earth driven theme and inserting jazz, world and western feels. The musicianship and recording quality are both very high. "Blueberries" is a fun jazz number with playful vocals and a swinging jazz accompaniment. "Winter Sky" is an intimate piano/vocal piece that needs nothing more. "One Walk on the Beach" is tons of fun with a calming Island feel. If you enjoy folk or jazz music, or timeless female vocalists such as Joni Mitchell, you'll enjoy this CD.

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo (Jazz Artist from Australia)

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo is a Space-Dub instrumental album with a big arsenal. It combines Jazz, Afro -Jamaican, Dub, Ambient, Drum N' Bass and much more. It is well produced with tight beats, spacy sounds and very cool muted trumpet work. There is a constant mysticism to this album and it is floaty, but organic at the same time. Highlights include "Phoenix" (Wig-Out), which is a definite journey of a track with a grounded rhythm section and guitar and trumpet eerily talking to one another. "Gunya" is more up-tempo featuring the signature trumpet with a bowed-string sounding guitar coming at you. Pick this up if you like beats and ambience.

"Saving the Day" by SweetJazz55 (Jazz artist from Maryland (MD))

"Saving the Day" by SweetJazz55 can be best described as "Ambient Jazz." It features colorful and intriguing instrumental arrangements, lots of tricky bass lines and interesting synthesizer lines that take center stage on the tracks. There are many creative synthesizer sounds on this CD, adding to the color of the tracks. The track "Lizzart Hart" is quite adventuresome in the area of trickiness. Lots of sounds going on in this one. "XZERT" has that same quality with a nice flow. "The Set Up" mixes it up with airiness and consistency. All that said, this album has a relaxing quality to it. It's quite meditative. If you like Jazz Fusion, you will like this album.

"Phantoms Dance" by Debra Mathis (Jazz Artist from Oregon(OR))

"Phantoms Dance" by Debra Mathis is a great collection of improvisational piano pieces. This is a very heart-felt album told through dreamy arrays of jazz and classical progressions. Think 70's New York jazz with traditional roots. Debra is quite a talented pianist and puts all of herself into her playing. "Flowers of Glass, Cages in Time" has a nice meditative quality. Songs like "Remembering When" and "Iron and Ice" dig deeper and leave you in a ponderous state. This album is great for relaxation and quiet inspiration.
