"Corona Borealis" by ALFREDO DIAS GOMES (Jazz Artist from Brazil)

It's not often you listen to a CD that's written by a talented drummer but Alfredo Dias Gomes and his latest CD, "Corona Borealis," hits the music scene with another spectacular collection of Jazz/Funk/Rock music. This album contains songs that are mellow and rich in sounds and textures and a cast of players that perform with well balanced precision. Right from the first track, "Solo," Gomes gives the listeners a taste as to the talents he has to offer as his cymbals are crisp and clean, the toms have a wonderful tone, and bass drum is rich and solid. The song, "Andromeda," has a free flowing groove as the drums impress with a strong and steady beat. The lovely interlude, "Expresso MM," is sweet and charming as the piano takes the melody while the velvety drums accentuate with stunning clarity. Feel the funky vibes on the song, "Pegasus," as the bass line reels you in with a groovy tone while drums ignite with a funky percussive style. If you're a fan of smooth Jazz then the superb album, "Corona Borealis," would be a great addition to your musical collection.
